A Day to Remember: 2026 Season Launch Family Day
What a day. What a club. What a defining moment in the story of the Geelong West Giants.

Our 2026 Season Launch Family Day was more than a preseason celebration — it was a powerful reflection of our identity, our people, and the legacy that continues to shape our future. From the energy around the ground to the connections between families, players, and supporters, it was a day that captured everything it means to be part of the Giants.
Honouring Our Legacy
One of the most significant moments of the day was the official announcement of our junior football and netball team names for the 2026 season.
In a proud and meaningful initiative, we have named each team in honour of individuals and families who have played an integral role in building and shaping our club. These are names that carry history, passion, and a deep connection to the Giants — and now, they will inspire the next generation every time our players take the field or the court.

Celebrating the Heart of Our Club
We were also incredibly proud to launch a brand-new initiative that recognises the true backbone of the Giants — our volunteers.
The Bruce Bauer Volunteer of the Week Award, proudly sponsored by Apco, was officially introduced at our Family Day. Named in honour of a person who embodied the spirit of selfless contribution, this award will shine a light on the individuals who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make our club what it is.
From canteen helpers and team managers to coaches, committee members, and quiet achievers — this award ensures that the people who give so much are seen, valued, and celebrated.
Community, Connection & A Bit of Fun
Of course, no Giants event would be complete without a strong sense of fun and community and this year certainly delivered.
We were lucky enough to have Apco on site, bringing along two crowd favourites, the famous Jaffle and Apco Joe, who quickly became the stars of the show. Their energy, presence, and connection with our families added another layer of excitement to an already incredible day.
Moments like these remind us that our club is about more than sport, it’s about people, connection, and creating an environment where everyone feels welcome.
One Club. Two Leagues. One Community.
United. Proud. Connected.
The 2026 Season Launch Family Day wasn’t just the start of a new season, it was a statement of who we are and where we’re going.
We are the Geelong West Giants.
We are building something special.
